It is necessary to ensure that the child does not eat while watching the TV. Parents and guardians must be involved with the treatment of a child’s obesity. A diet diary can be used to study eating patterns and identify foods the child has a weakness for. The diet plan of the obese child can then be developed keeping these patterns in mind. It is from the parents that the child will pick up healthy eating habits. Any treatment program without parental guidance will definitely fail. Child obesity often also called childhood obesity is the phenomenon of obesity in children and young adults. Obesity can hamper participation in physical activities in school. It can also make it hard to keep up with friends or to simply play in the neighborhood playground. Increase in physical activity is the first and foremost step towards treating obesity in a child. An addition of only 1000 steps per day to a child’s activity routine contributes significantly in reduction of body weight. Physical activity also reduces the chances of health related problems. Small simple steps can be effective in curbing child obesity. The amount of fatty foods in the house should be limited, all meals should be eaten at the dinner table at designated times and if the child is not hungry he or she should not be forced to finish the entire meal. A few servings of fruit and green vegetables too must be introduced in the child’s diet.
